چکیده
Abstract Because of the damage that dams, levees, and other water-retaining structures cause, their failure has long been a source concern. Despite limitations testing apparatus (e.g., HET) used to study barrier material erodibility, they are still widely used. In previous studies, there was very little discussion hydraulic parameters fluid pressure, flow rate, etc.) obtained from HET test, particularly how relate varying eroded hole. Therefore, purpose this paper look into aspect relationship as well practical aspects must be considered. Fluctuations in pressure rate data collected during were primary issue discovered. The noise pump machinery caused fluctuate within specific range, but fluctuations controlled consistent. Throughout recorded fluctuated ± 10 kPa below target while approximately 0.3 L/min. test performed on smooth-surfaced, uniform-diameter hole; however, is not always case for holes samples. non-uniform surface can affect friction between eroding fluid, which turn affects loss across erosion pipe. A non-invasive measurement method determining diameter an hole suggested future research, provided empirical difference, diameter. limitations, results overview expected fluctuation range parameters.

Insulating Material Erosion in Atmospheric Non- Thermal Plasma Jet Device
This paper reports on the selection of insulating material types in a developed atmosphericpressure non-thermal plasma jet (ANPJ-II) device which was operated previously in our laboratory based on the minimum erosion area of the insulator’s nozzle. Three identical insulator groups used in our experiment include; Teflon insulator material with different thicknesses of 1.5 mm and 2 mm respectivel...
متن کاملPhysico-Mechanical Properties of Organo-Modified Bentonite Reinforced Cement Mortars
It is demonstrated that the addition of organo-modified Na-bentonite (OMB) particles to Portland cement mortar can promote its physical and mechanical properties. A series of experimental works on some important physico-mechanical properties of Portland cement mortars mixed with various dosages of hydrophobic OMB were performed. The obtained results confirm that the OMB provides a dense packing...
متن کاملNumerical modelling of concentrated leak erosion during Hole Erosion Tests
This study focuses on the numerical modelling of concentrated leak erosion of a cohesive soil by a turbulent flow in axisymmetrical geometry, with application to the Hole Erosion Test (HET). The numerical model is based on adaptive remeshing of the water/soil interface to ensure accurate description of the mechanical phenomena occurring near the soil/water interface. The erosion law governing t...
متن کاملEvaluating Non-Adequate Test-Case Reduction
Given two test cases, one longer and one shorter, the shorter test case is preferred for many purposes. A shorter test case usually runs faster, is easier to understand, and is more convenient for debugging. However, shorter test cases also tend to cover less code and detect fewer faults than longer test cases. While traditional work focused on reducing test suites while preserving code coverag...
متن کاملCharacterization of microbial communities in raw and homogenized bentonite samples
World-wide appreciated strategy for the management and treatment of high level and long lived radioactive waste is to dispose it in a deep and stable geological formation. Microbial community present in the host or buffer material may compromise the effective performance and safety of waste disposal system. In the Czech Republic, bentonite from Černý vrch locality is planned to be used as a buf...
